CBD FAQ's

CBD or Cannabidiol is a Phytocannabinoid, and is the second major cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It is a non-intoxicating compound with various medical uses and is recognized for being beneficial in many biological processes in humans and animals. Unlike the major Cannabinoid THC, CBD is non-psychoactive (does not result in euphoric feelings from consumption) and has an extraordinary safety profile.

CBD functions by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system. These receptors have been found in virtually every cell and tissue type in the human body (hence the seemingly endless array of CBD uses).

Before adding CBD oil to your regimen, as with any supplement, be sure to check with your doctor to make sure that it’s a good choice for you.
There are a myriad of ways to use CBD. The four main ways are sublingual tinctures, topical lotions/balms, oral edibles(gummies)/capsules, and inhalation by vaporization or smoking. At True Seven we think sublingual tinctures are one of the best ways to use CBD because you can get the dosing very precise.  For a quicker effect topicals are suggested. Best, often depends on your needs and expected results. When taking CBD, always follow the instructions on the package of the product you have purchased.

This one is tricky because it, of course, depends on what you’re using the compound for, and also on how strong the product is. Most people consume between 10-50 mg of CBD per day total. (For reference, 1 mL of a potent oil might contain 50 mg of CBD. Make sure you read the label on your product to ensure a proper serving.

Yes, CBD is a 100% naturally-occurring chemical compound that comes directly from the cannabis plant. It is not synthetically made.

A CBD tincture is another term for a CBD oil. In the cannabis industry the word “tincture” and “oil” are used interchangeably. A CBD tincture or CBD oil is a liquid concentrate which contains CBD.

In our opinion the best CBD Tincture is a full plant extract which contains terpenes naturally occurring in cannabis. The best CBD tincture is one, like True Seven CBD, which has been lab tested to ensure its potency and safety as a clean tincture fit for consumption.

Terpenes are essential oils found in plants. There are around 200 terpenes in cannabis. They are what give cannabis its distinct aroma and flavor. Terpenes have beneficial effects and work synergistically with cannabinoids like CBD – this relationship is called the entourage effect.

CBD isolate or otherwise called “pure CBD” is the CBD molecule separated from the the rest of the compounds it normally occurs with. CBD isolate usually appears as a crystalline white powder. CBD isolate can either be synthesized in a lab (synthetic CBD) or made from a CBD containing plant.

The length of time it takes for CBD to take effect will depend on the route of administration. The fastest effect will be felt from smoking or vaporization (onset of effects in minutes). Topical administration of CBD will be felt quickly as well. The next fastest effect will be felt from a sublingual dosage (onset of effects in 15 – 60 minutes). The slowest effect (but the longest lasting) will be felt from oral ingestion (onset felt in 90 minutes). Source: Cannabis Revealed

Yes. Pets can benefit from CBD for many of the same conditions as humans. CBD is safe to use for pets but their dosage will likely be much smaller than yours. Dogs have a higher concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brain. This means they are very sensitive to THC. But a small amount of THC, like the amount in a broad or full spectrum CBD product, is beneficial for animals. We recommend you speak with a veterinarian before you start giving your pet CBD. Ask for a certificate of analysis to show the product contains what it claims on the label.  Check the (certificate) to confirm there are no added ingredients, pesticides, fungicides, fungal toxins, etc.”

NO. Industrial Hemp is a relative of Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa). CBD does not contain the psychoactive properties (THC) that marijuana contains. This allows the consumer to enjoy the benefits of CBD without the negative side effects.

THC affects the brain by binding to naturally-occurring CB-1 receptors in the central nervous system. CBD is a differently-shaped molecule that binds to CB-2 receptors in cell and body tissues outside the central nervous system.

NO! Our CBD is derived from industrial hemp that does not contain the psychoactive properties of THC. In fact, CBD is antagonistic to the marijuana high; some research expresses its potential to prevent THC molecules from binding to the brain’s receptors (hence the reason why it’s often used to subdue the ‘paranoia’ effects of super potent THC strains).  CBD is known to be relaxing, so for some it could be sedating, which is why many find it great for insomnia. The National Institute on Drug Abuse suggests that CBD is non-psychoactive and has even recommended that cannabidiol may facilitate drug and alcohol addiction recovery.

Yes! CBD is legal in all 50 states as it is derived from an industrial Hemp source imported under approved tariff codes as a dietary supplement.

Caution must be taken with drug tests and CBD oil.  The urine test most often used for Drug tests looks for a compound created by the body after THC is metabolized. Therefore, CBD shouldn’t create a positive result. A high-quality CBD product with minimal THC is incredibly unlikely to show up on a drug test. CBD products aren’t supposed to contain more than 0.3% THC. However, low quality CBD products may contain more traces of THC than they claim, in which case it is possible for a screening to pick up on the drug. Always purchase your CBD products from a reputable brand which provides lab reports showing the exact THC presence.

Yes. CBD is metabolized by a group of enzymes called the CYP450. These enzymes are responsible for metabolizing many commonly used drugs. CBD can inhibit the activity of the CYP450 enzymes. Compounds in grapefruit inhibit the same enzyme group, which is why physicians advice patients not to eat grapefruit shortly before or after taking a medication. While CBD-drug interactions are more likely with high doses of CBD and CBD isolates, precaution must be taken when using CBD alongside life preserving medications for serious conditions.

Yes… but it might not pass customs! CBD oil is not yet legal in all countries; while some countries exist in a relative grey area, in some countries, CBD oil is illegal and could cause you big problems (including fines or even jail time) if you bring it into the country.  Always check regulations prior to bringing CBD into any country your traveling to.
